Wednesday Wandering

It's a Wednesday... the first day of winter! Very chilly start to the morning wiping the ice from my windscreen, but now the sun is out! I've been checking out my new pieces - ready to go to Little Shop Of Handmade and some are coming to Camberwell market with me on June 19th.

In my wanderings today I updated myself with theanimalarium.blogspot.com and stumbled upon this glorious illustration by Joao Lauro Fonte. Entitled "The cat who mistook his wife, the kids, the furniture (and even his parrot) for his hat". Cats in late Victorian garb and a penny farthing, what more could one ask for? It has really made my day!
Now I'm off for a walk in the warm winter sun!

Custom Bunnies

About a month ago I received a lovely Etsy convo from someone who had made a purchase from my market stall 5 months ago. I remember them clearly - the girl of the couple had been debating whether to purchase the necklace of polymer clay rabbit Poppy or polymer clay rabbit Rhubarb. She ended up choosing Poppy and now wanted to reunite her with her sister Rhubarb. But alas, Rhubarb had been sold! So I worked with the couple and made them some other options for friends for Poppy. It ended up they wanted the whole familly! So Pumpkin, Rose and Parsley have now all gone off to their new home in the Australian Capital Territory with Poppy.

Enjoy!

Blackbird Summer Market

Tomorrow bramble and bear will be holding a stall at The Blackbird Market. It is my favourite market of all!
Situated in the quaint Worker Club Hotel on the corner of Brunswick and Gertrude Streets, Fitzroy. Escape the possible showers and browse quirky wares from Melbourne designers while listening to 1960's tunes! Tomorrow should be even more enjoyable than usual as I will have my best friend Lauren to keep me company between meeting other lovely people.

Hope to see you there! :)

Free this Saturday?

Check out the Blackbird Market in Fitzroy! It's just the cutest and my favourite market... it is all undercover too which is such a bonus in this unpredictable town. If your in the area come down and say hi. I will be there from 10am-3pm meeting new people and giving tiny bunny rabbits new homes around peoples necks. Hoorah!

New Creations - Market Ready

This Sunday heralds my first stall at The Rose St artists market in Fitzroy. It is open from 11am - 5pm... just off Brunswick Street. There are plenty of artists and designers to check out! I find the first time at a new market can be daunting and I am lucky enough to have my sister help me set up the stall. She has a blog too... clever cookie. www.ihavetworooms.blogspot.com.

Above are some new creations I have been working on in preparation for the market! Most of the market is undercover, but lets still hope for blue skies!

Blackbird Market October Review

My stall at the ever cute Blackbird Market on Saturday was a success! I am told the market was not as busy as usual, with some regular stall holders & customers testing out the first Melbourne Finders Keepers market. But there were still plenty of gorgeous wares! I bought a very very cute vintage dress for only $10. I also purchased a sweet little cushion from poppy & ted. Why not visit poppy and ted's plush little store here?

I am looking forward to my next stall at Blackbird Market on Novemeber 13th and hope to see you there!

Modish Market

Sunny Saturday just gone, my best friend Lauren and I went for some lovely strolls.
We caught the Modish Market inside the stunning Malvern Town Hall.
I purchased one pendant from the lovely Sharee from Run Wild Horses. It was only $5, and features a page from an antique childrens book! I love the little fable about a Herron on the pendant.
You can visit her website here http://www.runwildhorses.com.au/

Blackbird Market

Seriously just the cutest market! Has such a good vibe! The venue helps immensely, as do all the lovely stalls.
So glad to be a part of it and look forward to it next Saturday! Have a lovely sunny weekend this weekend!

Harem

I went for a wonderful long stroll yesterday along Brunswick Street Fitzroy. I was primarily there to check out the Blackbird Market and Rose Street Artist Market as I will be holding some stalls there over the next couple of months! I was especially impressed by the Blackbird market. It was small and cute with plenty of gorgeous merchandise!
I have not been shopping in Fitzroy for a while and was dazzled by all the stalls and shops which were obiviously put there specifically for me to spend my money at!

My favourite store was Harem at 248 Brunswick Street.

There were several varieties of bird hair clips and I have a soft spot for fake birds! They are actually called mushroom birds, and I had some in my wedding flower arrangements that I made 2 years ago.
Here are one of the treasures I picked up.

The early bird catches the worm

After a couple of months waiting and a week of late nights preparing, the day for bramble and bears first market stall came on Sunday!
It happened to be the morning after a friends wedding reception in a far away land (Merricks North) so after 4 hours sleep I awoke on Sunday morning to the sound of my alarm and gale force winds blowing outside. At least it wasn't raining! Yet...

My brother in law Tim and I arrived at Camberwell Market at 6am and set up our stall.
At 9am clouds had gathered and a downpour of rain caught everyone by surprise. Lucky for us and the stall next door to ours, my husband Sean had bought us a $100 gazebo we could share and use to keep dry!
Leora's dog Keeta keeps guard over Tim's Hiss Hiss merchandise! She even models one of his screen printed shirts!

I was pleasantly surprised at the success of bramble and bears first market stall, especially in spite of the weather! Thank you to everyone who braved the rain and wind and to all my new customers!
I'm looking forward to holding more stalls in the future!

Market this Sunday!

Sunday bramble and bear has it's first market stall booked! It is a joint stall with my brother in law Tim, and his fiance Leora from 'Birds Go Tweet'.

We are all pretty creative and love our work, hoping other people will enjoy it too!

So if your free on Sunday between 6.30am - 12.30pm, get down to Camberwell Market in Melbourne. At least there will be some free Chocolate coated caramels in it for you!

Here are some new I will be selling... from my 'Well Read Forest Friends' range.. also now available on my Etsy store.

Have a great weekend!
